Bhatnagar International School, Vasant Kunj organized intra school IGNITE MUN 2016. The two day event had two committees, namely UNHRC (United Nations Human Rights Council) and ECOSOC (Economics and Social Council). Sixty One delegates from class VIII to XI participated in the mega event.
The event unfolded with the lighting of the lamp by the school principal, Mrs. Shilpa Bhatnagar who declared the session for day open by tapping the gavel.
The delegates were knowledgeable, incredibly enthusiastic and dexterously discussing pressing global issues that had been disconcerting the worlds and the United Nations for a very long time. The problems were discussed among the students in a sophisticated and diplomatic manner. The Committees and the International Press were headed by students of Class XII, who had participated in and won many laurels for the school in Inter MUNs earlier.
The Best Delegates of the event were Janmejay Chaudhary, who represented France (ECOSOC) and Punya Thareja, who represented IRAN UNHRC. The High Commendation awards went to the delegates of EI Salvador (ECOSOC) and Belgium (UNHRC).
In the ever shrinking world, where observing amity, harmony and universal camaraderie is an imperative need, events like MUN (Model United Nations) play a pivotal role in training children to be leaders and be politically aware. MUN involves substantial researching, public speaking, debating and writing skills as well as thinking, teamwork and organizational abilities. The school leaves no stone unturned in providing ample opportunities of participation, practicing and processing information.
